Save Audio From an X (Twitter) Video on iPhone and Android

Part of the complete guide to downloading X/Twitter videos.

On a phone, the whole job takes a minute: open the Twitter/X to MP3 converter in your browser, paste the post's link, and tap MP3. There's nothing to install on iPhone or Android. (Desktop works the same way; the general MP3 guide covers the basics.)

"X to MP3", "Twitter to MP3", "X video to MP3" and "Twitter video to MP3" all mean the same thing, since X is just Twitter's new name.

On iPhone

  1. In the X app, open the post and tap Share → Copy Link.
  2. Open Safari (or any browser) and go to savenowx.com/twitter-to-mp3.
  3. Paste the link and tap Get audio.
  4. When the post loads, tap Download MP3.
  5. Open the Files app and look under Downloads, or tap the download arrow in Safari's address bar and choose the file from there.

On Android

  1. In the X app, tap Share → Copy link on the post.
  2. Open Chrome (or any browser) and go to savenowx.com/twitter-to-mp3.
  3. Paste the link and tap Get audio, then Download MP3.
  4. Tap the download notification to open the file, or find it in the Files app under Downloads.

Not sure where the file went on your device? Where downloaded X videos go covers every common phone and computer.

What to expect from the audio

  • Quality. The MP3 is encoded at 192 kbps from the video's soundtrack. That's fine for speech and casual listening, but it can't improve on a poor original.
  • Posts with no audio. GIFs and silent clips don't have a soundtrack, so there's nothing to extract. The page tells you when that's the case. (See why some videos are silent.)
  • Public posts only. Private or protected accounts can't be converted.
  • File size. Audio files are small, which makes them easier on phone storage than the video.

Common uses

Keeping an interview clip to listen to later, saving a voice note or announcement, or grabbing a song someone posted. Whatever you use it for, the audio still belongs to its creator. Personal listening is one thing, reposting is another. See is it legal to download X videos.
